This time Dell has refused to support me!

13:36:11 System Connected with XPS_Ronald_173679
13:36:16 XPS_Ronald_173679 Thank you for contacting/using Dell XPS Premium Chat Support! My name is XPS_Ronald_173679. How may I help you?
13:36:41 David Boniface Hi Ronald. I have a Dell XPS M1330 with Vista Ultimate bought 3 months ago, great machine. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that, according to "Computer", my CD/DVD drive had disappeared. I got onto Dell Live Chat and the guy said, OK, can I take over your machine to fix this? Ok I said. I then watched as he made a couple of changes to the Registry and then rebooted and all was fine, the CD/DVD drive was back again and working. Today I started iTunes for the first time and it told me that I could not read or write to the CD/DVD drive and needed to re-install iTunes though iTunes was working fine. From iTunes I then looked for an upgrade and installed version 8. Great, all working fine except that the CD/DVD drive has disappeared again!
13:38:11 XPS_Ronald_173679 I’ll be happy to assist you with that. Can I start with your system type and current contact phone number.
13:38:51 David Boniface System is XPS M1330 with Vista Ultimate. Tel no is +81 XX XXXX XXXX
13:39:36 XPS_Ronald_173679 Would you verify the business name on the account for me please
13:39:57 David Boniface I don't understand, I am not a business.
13:40:35 David Boniface I am an independent and sometimes operate as Dealer IT Consulting
13:40:51 XPS_Ronald_173679 I am showing a business name as well as a name other than yours on the account
13:41:28 David Boniface Again, I don't understand and didn't have this problem last time in Session id 21656038
13:42:11 XPS_Ronald_173679 I can give you the instructions to correct this but because its going to make registry edits I will need to verify the account
13:42:47 David Boniface Last time Stephen took over my PC as I watched, made the registry changes and all was well.
13:43:26 XPS_Ronald_173679 Yes I do see that, but I would need to verify the account before I could give you these instructions
13:44:06 David Boniface We seem to be going around in a circle here, I have given you all the information that I have, you have the service tag number?
13:45:06 XPS_Ronald_173679 Yes I do have that, but its not your information that I am showing on the account, we are unable to make any regestry edits without a full verification of the account
13:46:05 David Boniface It was exactly the same circumstances last time, I have no more information to give you. What do we do next? Are you going to help me or not?
13:46:53 David Boniface Do you want the log of the last chat which was sent to me by email?
13:47:12 XPS_Ronald_173679 At this point you would need to contact customer care at 1-800-964-8321 to have the account transferred to your name and information before I could proceed
13:47:37 XPS_Ronald_173679 I have that chat log in front of me already, I made sure to read through it
13:48:12 XPS_Ronald_173679 But I see in it that the previous technician did not verify your information before making those changes
13:48:21 David Boniface I am looking at it too
13:48:27 XPS_Ronald_173679 We are suppose to verify that before doing anything of that nature
13:49:02 David Boniface But you are getting my permission in writing to make the changes!
13:49:32 XPS_Ronald_173679 Yes but unfortunately I am unable to verify that you are actually the owner of that system
13:49:52 XPS_Ronald_173679 That's why we do not make these sort of changes without a full verification
13:50:54 David Boniface I am the owner, I bought it here in Tokyo 3 months ago! Noiw I have to make an international telephone call to the US to explain the same things to them?
13:51:32 XPS_Ronald_173679 Let me check to see if there is an international number for you
13:52:17 XPS_Ronald_173679 0120-1982-26
13:53:03 David Boniface In Japan that is a Freecall number, usually attached to a business as a help line of some kind
13:53:07 XPS_Ronald_173679 That number is for there in Japan
13:53:32 XPS_Ronald_173679 That is the XPS line there in Japan that can get you over to customer care there
13:54:06 David Boniface Why do I need to do that? They do not have an English language support service
13:55:08 XPS_Ronald_173679 Then you would need to call the 1-800 number, I am unable to do any of the corrections for this unless the account is verified
13:56:10 David Boniface The we have nothing more to say to each other. Last week I was full of praise for Dell's support, now I am making a complaint as loudly as I can and as high as I can get. Goodbye.
13:56:28 XPS_Ronald_173679 Unfortunately customer care does not have a chat or I could get you over to them that way
13:56:48 XPS_Ronald_173679 Is there anything else I can assist you with tonight?
13:57:27 David Boniface You have not yet assisted me in anything. Goodbye.
13:57:53 XPS_Ronald_173679 Thank you for choosing Dell XPS Premium Chat Support. For future reference I will be sending an e-mail to you with your case number for reference to this problem and a transcript of this chat session. If there is nothing else I can assist you with please close the chat session and have a wonderful day!

HELP HELP HELP
I have had my Dell Vista Laptop since December 2008 as well as a new I-pod mini. Everytime I install iTunes on my laptop, it makes my DVD/CD Drive disappear! Kind of makes burning/importing CDs impossible. Anyway, neither Dell nor Apple seems to have a fix and I am beyond ticked off as I continue to wait for someone to fix this! I have downloaded Gear device drivers, but that didn't work. I am afraid to change registrys, as that fix always seems to come with a warning that if you do it wrong, it will render your computer inoperable. Anyone have any ideas????

May I please have some clear light on this error or message with Itouch>

"This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes."

What I find weird is that Apple will have the Perfect XP version but not a Visat version, I think that's silly. Vista is not "new" anymore and now we still get these errors. If apple wants you to buy their products there should be sufficient support/drivers/software for it, regardless of your OS. it like racisim, if it aint white tough shht, buy a mac. For what fancy nothings. I have Ipods, now the Touch, and can't get the touch to work. I have a Zune too, and I tell you it's the best, and the support is great.

At least with MS if you happen to have some sort of Mac/linux product, they always try to have it fixed for you, or give you a patch just so you can run your stuff. No wonder Apple will stay apple, it will never evolve wait maybe they will change thename to www.MCBaboon.com/Itmonkey/sorry not supported - we are all idiots.

Sorry but I am certain lots of people feel this way, to apple I am just a number. I think I should buy shares and Force them to fix their product or get fired.

If apple wants you to buy their products there should be sufficient support/drivers/software for it, regardless of your OS. it like racisim, if it aint white tough shht, buy a mac. For what fancy nothings. I have Ipods, now the Touch, and can’t get the touch to work. I have a Zune too, and I tell you it’s the best, and the support is great.

At least with MS if you happen to have some sort of Mac/linux product, they always try to have it fixed for you, or give you a patch just so you can run your stuff. No wonder Apple will stay apple, it will never evolve wait maybe they will change thename to http://www.MCBaboon.com/Itmonkey/sorry not supported - we are all idiots.

Sorry but I am certain lots of people feel this way, to apple I am just a number. I think I should buy shares and Force them to fix their product or get fired.
